Emails Regarding US Open from 2017

This is going to be a work in progress.

I am going to try to compile the information from all the emails I sent out last year and answered many questions.  Sorry for the chaos in advance.

Email Sent March 22, 2017:

You are receiving this because we are inviting you to the US Open.

You are not required to attend, but we would love to have you.
We are trying to get 10 people to participate in the tournament so that we can get the group rates.
There is a division for underbelts who have not participated in a tournament before.
We will not be in charge of any students other than our own children and Zac.
The Paul Mitchell Experience is highly recommended.  That will be with pros such as Jackson Rudolph, Reid Presley, Tyler Weaver and many more.  It is on the Thursday before the tournament starts.
We will be driving down Wednesday after classes and getting there mid-Thursday.  We will be staying through the Night of Champions on Saturday Night.  We will not be coordinating any of the details such as meals, etc.  That is up to each of you as a family.
We will plan to do a team tee to designate our group as well.  😀
Reply to all with questions and we can work together.
We’re super excited about an amazing event!

CHRISSI BOYER
TEAM SCS
Thank you for supporting the 2017 US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships.
Online registration is OPEN! To register, use this link:
A Group Discount Code has been generated for your group/team. Your unique code is:

SCS17

Please make sure your team/group understands the group code should be entered exactly as it reads here – DO NOT put quotations around the group code or any other punctuation marks.
The current special gives you 36% off door prices which is the rate offered for groups of 25 or more. This special will continue until March 31, 2017. After that date, if your group is less than 25 competitors, the discount percentage will change to 30% which is the regular discount level for groups of 15-24. The regular discount percentage for groups of 10-14 is 24% and your discount code will change to this percentage on or about May 1, 2017.
Any group discounts end on June 23, 2017 so you must register your entire team before that date to get a discount.
Also, remember that you must have a minimum of 10 people register using your group code to be eligible for group discounts.
Group Codes MUST be entered at time of registration.  We cannot refund anyone who fails to use the group code at the time of registration and then does not receive the group savings. Make sure that the code is used for each person included in your registration. If it is not used for each competitor, we cannot later apply a missed discount.
Booking Hotel for the Event: The BEST way to experience the 2017 US Open is to stay at the tournament hotel – the Coronado Springs Resort in Disney. Some of the reasons to stay at the hotel are: You get amazing rates at a Disney resort, you get all the Disney amenities, you will be staying where the event actually takes place and you get FREE transportation from the airport to the resort on Disney’s Magical Express. Here is the link to book your rooms online: http://usopenkarate.com/book-my-room/
Multiple Room Booking at Hotel: You can book multiple rooms at the hotel using the online hotel booking link on the US Open Website. When you book your rooms, make sure to note the Team Name when you enter the primary person for each room. If you do that, the amazing staff at the Coronado Springs will know to keep all your rooms close to each other so your team can make the most out of the experience.
T-shirts: Don’t forget to order your official 2017 US Open t-shirt when you register. T-shirts have sold out the last two years so guarantee you will get one by pre-ordering online!

Email sent March 24, 2017:

Mr. Hay asked about the Night of Champions and Team Paul Mitchell Experience.  Here is the information I have at present.

Here is the official US Open site.  http://usopen-karate.com
Night of Champions http://usopen-nightofchampions.com  This is where the pros will be performing and final competitions will go on.  You don’t have to attend.  We did not last year and watched it online, however, this year, we plan to attend.  We do not plan on getting front seats, though.
Last year, the Paul Mitchell Experience was on Thursday afternoon.  It was amazing.  That will be a ticketed event for participants.  You will not need to have a ticket for spectating.
Please let us know if you would like to be removed from this list.
Thank you.

Here is the answer for divisions for under belts from the us open
So the ones we sent may be wrong.
Just use your best judgement.  They can be adjusted later.
FROM US OPEN
I was looking online because on a previous version of the website I explained all this. It appears our web designers removed it.

Beginner/Novice/Intermediate/Advanced is rank. In most schools it goes like this: A newer white belt would likely be novice. Yellow/Orange = beginner, Purple/Blue/Green = Intermediate, Red/Brown = Advanced. You will see that for Intermediates there is New Intermediated and Experienced Intermediate or something like that. Those are to distinguish between people just moving up to Intermediate and those who have been an Intermediate for awhile or are about to move to Advanced.
The division for kids who have never competed is the First Timer division. You should be able to find that in the Registration. Let me know if you don’t so I can yell at the registration manager people to make sure it is there and visible.
Thanks!
Emily

Good morning!

I think I’ve condensed our list down to those that just want information.

This morning I’ve been working on compiling information for everyone and have a few notes.

1)  Don’t forget to apply your SCS17 code to your order when you register!
2)  Don’t pay attention to the photo at the beginning that shows you different discount rates.  We have special rates.
3)  The Night of Champions tickets are giving me problems. I discovered their site had been hacked and alerted them.  They are working on it and seem to be very good at responding.   I will keep you updated on what’s going on there.  The site is messed up and the discount coupon codes are not working.  I will purchase ours and let you know what seats we have for the show!
4)  Please forward me a printout of your order so that I can have one on file for each student that is participating in the tournament.
5)  Don’t be afraid to be in the tournament.  It is for all ages/ranks/divisions/skill levels.
6)  Don’t forget a t-shirt!
7)  Don’t forget spectator passes for those who will not be competing.
8)  I have been informed that the group ticket prices are really good and that they are good through December of 2018.  So if you are considering going to Disney anytime before that, you may want to snag them through this deal!
9)  We are truly honored that you all are interested in going and expanding your martial arts skills and exposure.  We couldn’t be more grateful for the blessings we have in our dojo family.  We understand that this is a big undertaking for all involved and we hope it will be a positive experience for all of us.  Osu.
10)  Don’t forget to reply to all with questions so that we can work together.  It may be that one of us has the answer and can readily give it. Also, if you know someone who plans on going, but is out of town and is not responding, please let me know or forward this email to them!

I think that’s it for now.

Crissi 😀

Some people are putting some really fun things in each of the bags.  It’s going to be exciting.  I, of course, have been having a lot of fun with the favorites lists, so if you haven’t turned yours in…get cracking! There will be games and prizes for each family as well to make the trip down more exciting and fun.

Keira is very allergic to nuts of all kinds and soy so please be sure not to include anything with nuts in Madison or Keira’s bag.  Thank you.
